Topeka ? Aiden and Addison were the most popular names given to newborns in Kansas last year.

The Kansas Department of Health on Wednesday released lists of the top 25 baby names for boys and girls in 2008, based on birth certificates.

Aiden was the top boy’s name for the fifth year in a row. It was joined in the top five by Kaden, Ethan, Jackson and Brayden.

Addison topped the girl’s list, beating out Madison, Emily, Olivia and Emma.

The lists contain names with the same pronunciation but different spellings. For example, the No. 7 girl’s name, Kaylee, topped out with 36 different spelling variations. Kaden had 24.
