Army Pvt. David N. Thibault has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

The private is a 2008 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and the son of Linda Thibault, Oskaloosa.


Air Force Airman Thomas H. Taylor graduated from basic military training and earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman is a 2008 graduate of Baldwin High School and the son of Roger Taylor, Baldwin City, and Suzanne Ward, Belen, N.M.


Army Pvt. Marcus L. Fell graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, Ky., which included basic combat training and advanced individual training (AIT).

During the first nine weeks of initial entry training, the trainee completed basic combat training. During AIT, the soldier completed the armor crewman course to receive skill training in conducting tank unit defensive and offensive combat operations.

Fell graduated from a high school program at the Lawrence Adult Learning Center in 2008 and is the son of Chris and Mary Fell, Lawrence.


Dale B. Shillington has received an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) college scholarship offer to attend a selected host college or university.

The cadet was selected to receive the scholarship certificate on the basis of comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement and extra-curricular activities.

Upon graduation from college and completion of the ROTC program, the cadet will receive a bachelor’s degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the Air Force.

He will graduate from Free State High School this month and is the son of Kevin and Susan Shillington, Lawrence.
