Area resident keeps seat on ag board

Ann Peuser, Baldwin City, was one of several members with terms ending January 2013 reappointed to the State Board of Agriculture. Peuser was reappointed by Kathleen Sebelius before she left the governor’s office this week to become secretary of the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

“Kansas’ agricultural heritage is just as important to our future, as it is our past,” Sebelius said. “Supporting the farmers and ranchers of Kansas is critical to the overall well being of our state.”

The State Board of Agriculture serves in an advisory capacity to the governor and the secretary of agriculture to review and make recommendations on legislative initiatives and proposed rules and regulations.
