KU professor not named next Pitt State president

? The Kansas Board of Regents has named Steven Scott as Pittsburg State University’s new president.

Scott was introduced by the regents Friday, after they chose him from four finalists.

Scott has been serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs for the university in southeast Kansas.

He is replacing Tom Bryant, who is retiring after nine years. Bryant is among three state university leaders retiring this year.

The other finalists were Diana Carlin, a communications studies professor and former graduate school dean at the University of Kansas; Thomas Keon, dean of the business administration at the University of Central Florida in Orlando; and Fletcher Lamkin, a vice president at Dominican University of California in San Rafael.
