Labor department names deputy

The Kansas Department of Labor announces Dorothy Stites has been named deputy secretary of Labor. Stites originally joined the Department of Labor in 2004 as director of Labor Market Information Services and has been serving as the interim deputy secretary since Jan. 16.

Prior to joining the Department of Labor, Stites served the city of Hays for five years as the assistant city manager and interim city manager and also worked for the city of Lawrence.

Stites earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in public administration from Kansas University, as well as an associate degree from Haskell Indian Nations University.

She lives in Lawrence with her husband and daughter.
