Parkinson reappoints local resident to council

To promote the cultural and recreational opportunities in Kansas, Gov. Mark Parkinson has appointed and reappointed several Kansans to state boards and commissions.

John Rolfe, Wichita, has been appointed to the Kansas Council on Travel and Tourism. Rolfe is the president and CEO of the Greater Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau and is a former deputy secretary of the Kansas Department of Commerce.

The council promotes the development of new tourist attractions in Kansas and the expansion of existing tourist attractions.

It also helps the Department of Commerce promote state attractions and improve the travel industry within Kansas.

Also reappointed to this council is Judith Billings, Lawrence; Bob Carmichael, Topeka; Ken Corbet, Topeka; Donovan Stucky, Salina; Sabrina Symns, Hays; Sheila Lampe, Piqua; Olivia Simmons, Topeka; and Dennis Vasquez, Topeka.
