Kansas Chamber of Commerce’s 2009 Pro-Business Honor Roll is an all-Republican list
The Kansas Chamber of Commerce’s 2009 Pro-Business Honor Roll is an all-Republican list.
Twenty-four of the 31 Senate Republicans and 59 of the 77 House Republicans made the roll, the chamber announced Thursday.
“These legislators recognize the necessity of a strong business climate to help the state’s economy recover and flourish,” the release said.
The chamber said the Honor Roll members supported the Kansas Chamber more than 80 percent of the time with votes on appropriations bills, tax policy, energy, environment, regulatory affairs, business development and campaign finance.
The organization, however, declined to provide what the specific votes were on.
The chamber said Honor Roll members also consistently worked on business policy in committees, through communications and in their districts.
In addition to no Democrats making the list, the chamber didn’t list Senate leaders, including Senate President Steve Morris, R-Hugoton, Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt, R-Independence, and Senate Vice President John Vratil, R-Leawood.
In the House, state Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence, didn’t make the list, but Reps. Anthony Brown, R-Eudora, and Lee Tafanelli, R-Ozawkie, did.
