Parkinson set to appoint new Agriculture secretary
Topeka ? Gov. Mark Parkinson plans to announce the appointment of a new Kansas agriculture secretary Tuesday.
The appointee will succeed Adrian Polansky, who leaves office Friday. Polansky has accepted appointment as head of the Farm Service Agency in Kansas for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Parkinson is to announce the new agriculture secretary at an 11 a.m. news conference in his office at the Statehouse. Parkinson spokeswoman Beth Martino declined Monday to identify the individual.
Polansky has been Kansas agriculture secretary since 2003. His new job with the Farm Service Agency is the same on he held from 1993 to 2001.
