Topeka An environmental artist is helping a Topeka hospital celebrate its 100th anniversary by mowing its logo into a grassy hill.
Stan Herd of Lawrence approached St. Francis Health Center with the idea about a year ago.
Herd is well known for his crop art, consisting of images created on large fields and visible from aircraft.
He's been working on and off for about two months on the St. Francis project. It's located on the edge of the former Menninger Clinic campus on the northwest side of Topeka.
Herd began by calculating the measurements of the logo, which is a cross with a heart in the middle. He then got out the lawnmower and weedeater to create the image in the grass.
