Candidates file for area offices
Several candidates have filed to run in municipal and school board races on April 7 in area cities and districts outside Douglas County.
Here’s a list of candidates:
McLouth
The mayor’s race features Michael Graveman and Keith Meador. In the election for two city council positions, the candidates are Karl Abegg, Barbara Hasemeier, Kim Perry, Bob Smith and Harland Woodring, according to the Jefferson County Clerk’s office.
Three McLouth district school board positions will also be on the ballot:
Position No. 4 — Kristi Carlton, John Hart and Douglas Walbridge, the incumbent.
Position No. 5 — Jessica Folsom.
Position No. 6 — Mitchel Campbell, the incumbent.
Perry
Among the three seats on the Perry City Council, the candidates are R.J. Brown, Andy Meyer, Jeremy Rodecap and Eric Urban.
The Perry-Lecompton school board races include Kevin Morgison as the only candidate for position No. 4. For the board’s fifth position, several candidates have lined up — Lorene Martins, Joshua R. Meyer, Michael Miller, Monicka Remboldt and Raymond R. Whitaker.
Tonganoxie
In the Tonganoxie City Council race for three seats, incumbents Jason Ward and Jim Truesdell filed for re-election, and Burdel Welsh, Sieglinde Marx and Roger Shilling will join them on the ballot.
For the Tonganoxie school board races, Dan Hopkins will run unopposed for the position No. 4 seat. The position No. 5 race includes Kay Smith and Randy Wager. For the position No. 6 seat, appointee Doug Tate is seeking his first full term, and he faces Kris Grinter and Tim O’Hagan.
De Soto
A March 3 primary will be necessary to narrow the field of 11 candidates for two seats on the De Soto City Council.
The candidates are Ron Crow Jr., Andy Everett, Bob Garrett, Kevin Honomichl, John Krudwig, Danny M. Lane, Ronald McDaniel, Doug Pickert, W.R. Sam Tyler, Rick Walker and Stephanie Weaver.
The De Soto mayoral race includes incumbent David R. Anderson and Randy Johnson.
In the De Soto school board races, at least one primary will be necessary. For the position No. 4 seat, voters on March 3 will narrow down the field of Gregory Hines, Jeff Hopkins, Margaret Johnson, Randy Johnson and Roger Templin.
The race for the position No. 5 seat includes incumbent Janine L. Gracy and Kevin P. Straub. The position No. 6 race includes incumbent Larry Meyer, Tim Needham and Tammy Thomas.
