K.C. councilwoman says mayor retaliated

? Kansas City Council member Cindy Circo says Mayor Mark Funkhouser removed her from a committee because she voted to override his veto of a volunteer ordinance.

The ordinance in effect banned Funkhouser’s wife, Gloria Squitiro, from serving full time in her husband’s office.

Circo talked about losing her role as chairwoman of the Housing Committee during a deposition last Friday as part of a former mayoral aide’s lawsuit against the city.

A spokesman for Funkhouser said the mayor would not be commenting on the deposition.

Circo said she thinks it showed a lack of leadership on Funkhouser’s part to retaliate against her and remove her as housing chair in November.
