Teen pleads guilty to false abduction report

? A central Kansas teenager has been sentenced to one year’s probation for falsely reporting to police that two men kidnapped her and held her captive in a basement.

Fourteen-year-old Layla Lee of Lyons was sentenced Tuesday in Rice County after pleading guilty to falsely reporting a crime and obstruction of official duty.

Police said Lee claimed she’d been abducted outside a Lyons grocery store on Sept. 27.

When Lee reappeared on the morning of Sept. 30, she asked for a ride to the police department. She reported that she had been abducted and held in a house until her captors released her.

But police were skeptical of Lee’s story. And a week later, she admitted her story was false.
