Suspect in robbery in De Soto arrested

A Shawnee woman suspected in a De Soto liquor store robbery has been arrested and charged in Johnson County.

Johnson County Sheriff’s officers and Lenexa police arrested Marilyn E. Lee, 24, around noon Tuesday, said Master Deputy Tom Erickson, a sheriff spokesman.

Johnson County prosecutors have charged her with one count of robbery after the Dec. 9 robbery at Mike’s Liquor in De Soto.

Sheriff’s deputies had been looking for a suspect after someone wearing a hooded gray sweatshirt, black gloves and a black ski mask passed a note to a clerk and demanded money that evening. The suspect escaped with an unknown amount of cash, but deputies described the suspect as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 110 pounds.

Erickson said sheriff’s officers and Lenexa police made the arrest after an investigation. Before the robbery, Lee had been released from Johnson County jail on Dec. 1 on a charge of misdemeanor theft, Erickson said.

Now with the robbery charge, a judge set Lee’s bond at $75,000 and appointed a public defender. She remained in custody Wednesday.
