Three children die in Abilene house fire

? Authorities say three children are dead after a weekend fire swept their Abilene home.

Abilene Police Chief Bryan Dunlap said Monday that the mother of the children, Diane Baquero, “was in close proximity to the home studying for a test” when the fire broke out at 11 p.m. Saturday. In a news release, Dunlap said the fire appears to have been accidental but the exact cause is unknown.

The dead children are identified as 7-year-old Ramon Baquero, 5-year-old Nyah Baquero and 4-year-old William Baquero. No other injuries were reported.

Dunlap said the Kansas State Fire Marshall, Topeka Fire Department and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department are also investigating the fire.
