Sebelius finds herself in Washington as cabinet talk persists
Topeka ? Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is in Washington to deliver a speech amid renewed speculation that she’s on President Barack Obama’s short list for health and human services secretary.
According to her official schedule, the two-term Democrat is set to deliver a speech Friday at the National Education Association. She’s also scheduled to address environmental and labor groups at the Green Jobs National Conference.
Talk of Sebelius joining Obama’s cabinet heated immediately after former Sen. Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination as health secretary on Tuesday.
Sebelius endorsed Obama relatively early in his presidential campaign and was among four finalists for vice president before Obama picked Joe Biden. After the election, Sebelius was mentioned most often as a potential secretary of energy, education or labor.
