House member fills empty Senate seat

? Northeast Johnson County precinct leaders have elected Terrie Huntington, of Fairway, to a seat in the Kansas Senate.

Huntington, who currently serves in the Kansas House, was elected Thursday to replace former Sen. David Wysong, a Mission Hills Republican who resigned earlier this month.

Huntington was the only person nominated for the election.

State law requires Huntington to run next year if she wants to complete the last two years of Wysong’s unexpired four-year term.

The precinct will now call another convention to find a replacement for Huntington’s Kansas House seat from Johnson County’s 25th District.
