State senator resigns his seat

? Republican David Wysong says he’ll resign from the Kansas Senate effective Dec. 13.

Wysong is an investment firm owner from Mission Hills in Johnson County. He was first elected to the Senate in 2004 and won a second term last year.

WIBW-AM in Topeka reported Tuesday that Wysong cited “family considerations” in a letter to fellow Republicans announcing his resignation.

Wysong chairs the Senate Commerce Committee and serves on the budget-writing Ways and Means Committee. He’s best known as a legislative advocate of statewide restrictions on smoking in public places.
