Field grows for Congress seat

? Sen. Jean Schodorf of Wichita has announced her candidacy for the 4th District congressional seat being vacated by fellow Republican Todd Tiahrt.

Schodorf was elected to the state Senate in 2000 and is the longest-serving member of the Ways and Means Committee.

Four other Republicans, including Sen. Dick Kelsey of Goddard, are running for the seat. Tiahrt is running next year for U.S. Senate.

Two Democrats, including state Rep. Raj Goyle of Wichita, also have declared for the seat. The district covers several counties of south-central Kansas, and includes Wichita.
