Army institute hosts media symposium

? The Army’s Combat Studies Institute is hosting a three-day symposium to discuss the relationship between the media and the military.

Held at Fort Leavenworth, the event is taking a look at the history of journalists on the battlefield, military reporting and relations between the media and those in uniform. Several guest speakers, including broadcast journalist Bill Kurtis and New York Times writer John Burns, are on the program.

The Combat Studies Institute is part of the Army’s Combined Arms Center. Each year it holds a symposium to discuss a current topic in military activities. Previous symposiums have focused on counterinsurgency operations and the military’s transformation during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
