A 50-year-old Oskaloosa man was found dead on his farm Sunday morning. While it was first reported as a missing person case, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating Dale Kingsbury’s death as a homicide.
Longtime friend Katrina Bayless said Kingsbury and his wife had lived on the farm in Jefferson County for 15 years.
“They’ve been fighting and scraping for years to survive on that land,” said Bayless.
Police have arrested 36-year-old Adam Hooper as a suspect in the case. Bayless said Kingsbury had a disability that kept him from running his farm as efficiently as he wanted, so he and his wife let Hooper stay at the farm as long as he worked.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig said the county attorney is expected to announce formal charges against Hooper Monday afternoon.

What A Sick Sick person. OMG!

The man is innocent until proven guilty. I can't believe the way cletus26 and Ohyasee have already convicted him. Have you forgotten what country you live in? Our system isn't perfect, but it's the best in the world. Please give the man a chance. His future jurors may be reading these comments.

i bet that's his best shirt, too.

I'm willing to put money on the fact that if the LJW reports him being the killer, that he is the killer. Otherwise they could lose credibility, right?

And he's not from Topeka.

Remember Mr. Hooper, for the 70's film "JAWS"; he could past for his son! Sure looks close!

from th CJ: Hooper had been working as a farmhand and had been living in a tent on Kingsbury’s property,.....Kingsbury’s body was found late Saturday night submerged in water in a concrete cistern located on the farm......
He looks familiar to me, maybe a pan handler? Does anyone recognise Hooper from the streets of Lawrence?

Barstop, the fact that a couple of on-line commenters declare him guilty doesn't make him so. The first two posters didn't violate our principles of justice in any way, shape, or form.
The perp remains "innocent until proven guilty" in a court of law. Public opinion is an entirely different thing.

right or wrong this guy is already guilt in society,,, it will haunt him forever even if not guilty... sad but true.. i live in oskie and i fear that if he is not the killer then there still is a killer out there if he is guilt and walks that means we have a problem and i fear for others. i have a hard time thinking that in this little town there has been a killer out and about... i read the oskaloosa paper weekly and never seen anything about a missing man...to think my kids start school the day after a murder trial....they have to walk right past the court house where this will all take place.. and my heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim....it is a horrible thing in such a same community.....

small community (sorry)

Many people in a small community remain sheltered and ignorant, and assume many things. To "Smitty", a pan-handler? I mean.. really? He man was a schizophrenic man from Oklahoma. To say things without checking the accuracy is surely ignorant. To the "thebcman" making snide comments that make you feel clever makes you look like an idiot. To "oskiegirl" the fact that you don't hear about things, doesn't mean they don't exist. Yes, you walk by a courthouse after something well known happens, but I guarantee that many things happen that you don't hear about. If you wanna fear about something, do it over pedophiles, because that's more likely to affect you.
