Wichita ? Peace activists in Kansas are holding a memorial this weekend to mark the 1945 atomic bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The event is an annual tradition in Wichita. This year’s event takes place at 7 p.m. Sunday at the solar calendar in Riverside Park.

Selected readings from Thomas Merton’s poem, “The Original Child Bomb,” are planned. Wichita State University anthropology professor Dotty Billings will also talk about her recent trip to China.
