Svaty named to House to replace son
Ellsworth ? A Democratic precinct committee has chosen Don Svaty of Ellsworth to replace his son, Josh Svaty, in the Kansas House of Representatives.
Don Svaty will take over the 108th District for his son, who last month was named Kansas secretary of agriculture.
The 108th District Democratic precinct chose the elder Svaty during a meeting on Sunday.
Josh Svaty’s term in the Legislature expires in January 2011.
Don Svaty, a 65-year-old farmer, former teacher and Ellsworth School Board member, plans to seek election to the seat in November 2010. The district includes all of Ellsworth County, rural Saline County, parts of south Salina and one precinct in Dickinson County, in Solomon.
