Lacey Monroe

Marine Corps Cpl. Christopher J. Baskins, son of Justin Baskins, of Baldwin City, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Air Support Squadron Two, Marine Air Control Group 18, Okinawa, Japan.

Baskins was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty.

Baskins is a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School. He joined the Marine Corps in June 2006.

United States Army Spc. Lacey Monroe was promoted to the rank of Sergeant/E-5 on Sept. 1.

Sgt. Monroe has served in the Army for two and half years and is stationed at Fort Eustis, Va.

Monroe, a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School, is the daughter of Wiley and Tammy Burnett. She and her husband, Ronnie Monroe, who also serves in the United States Army, have a daughter, Brianna Monroe.
