De Soto issues boil water advisory for western portions of city

Tips for the city

  • Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation, or use bottled water
  • Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from an automatic icemaker
  • Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains at least one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
  • If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears

A water main break has led the City of De Soto to issue a boil water advisory for western portions of the city.

Water service has been restored to all areas but because the pressure in the water lines dropped, the state directed the city to issue the advisory.

The area affected by the boil order is west of Penner Avenue between 83rd and 87th streets, and west of Lexington Avenue between 87th and 103rd Streets. The De Soto school district campus is included in that area.

The boil order is in effect until further notice.
