Shawnee ? A 23-year-old Shawnee man who is a suspect in the slaying of his girlfriend, who was found dead Thanksgiving night in her Shawnee apartment, is in custody after being captured in Texas.

Police had issued a warrant for Brandon Nicholas Reed’s arrest in the killing of Christina Osburn, 21. Authorities in Texas found Reed’s car on fire Saturday on a highway between Carrizo Springs and Catarina, about 60 miles north of the Mexican border. A truck driver told authorities he saw a man — later determined to be Reed — walk away from the burning car.

Police believe the car was set on fire because the flames originated from the interior.

Osburn’s body was found shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say they think she was killed late Wednesday.
