Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor to a one-vehicle accident that severely injured a Lawrence man early Saturday morning, police said Monday.

A condition report for Mark Fraser, 41, was not available Monday from police or Kansas University Hospital, where the man was taken by helicopter after his vehicle veered into a ditch at Fifth and Colorado streets.

The accident occurred about 12:30 a.m. on the north side of the road, near 1708 W. Fifth St. When his truck hit the embankment, Fraser was tossed from the vehicle through the passenger door, which opened on impact.
