BNSF worker killed by train near Emporia
Emporia ? A Burlington Northern Santa Fe employee is dead after getting hit by a train just west of Emporia.
Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Garland Hendrickson says an eastbound train struck 62-year-old Salvador Vega of Ottawa around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Vega was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s unclear what led to the accident. The sheriff’s department and Burlington Northern police are investigating.
