Woman accused of trying to have husband killed

? A southwest Kansas woman is facing charges that she tried to hire someone to kill her husband.

Authorities say 53-year-old Dorothy Clinkingbeard of Elkhart is jailed on a $500,000 bond in Morton County. Sheriff Justin Holliday said she is charged with criminal solicitation to commit first-degree murder.

Clinkingbeard is expected to appear in court Friday for scheduling of a preliminary hearing.

Holliday said a caller alerted local law officers to Clinkingbeard’s alleged plot. The sheriff said Clinkingbeard was arrested before she could carry out her plan, and that her husband had not been aware of the alleged plot.

Holliday said his department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate.
