Free State Studios shows earn Tellys

Three shows produced by Free State Studios, which has operations in Lawrence and Topeka, received honors as part of the 2008 Telly Awards:

¢ “From Farm to Fork,” an episode of “Jayni’s Kitchen,” won a Silver Telly, the program’s highest honor. Working on the show: Jayni Carey, host/producer; Kevin Dobson, producer/camer/editor; JP Wofford and Jackie Zammuto, cameras; and Thad Allender, still photos.

¢ “Suzannah Johannes,” an episode of “The Turnpike,” won a Bronze Telly. Working on the show: Tim vonHolten, host; Dobson, producer/camera/editor; and Tim Lyons, Daniel Lanier, Emily Robinson, Zammuto, Brian Costello, Brendan Costello, Jeff Dobson and Ryan Gregg, crew.

¢ “Mining: A Scar on Kansas,” an episode of “River City Weekly,” won a Bronze Telly. Working on the show: Greg Hurd, host; Brian Powell, producer/camera/editor; and Allender and Ryan Jones, additional video/stills/graphics.

The awards program, now in its 29th year, honors outstanding local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, as well as video and film productions. The program presents Silver and Bronze awards.

Last year’s Telly Awards received more than 14,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents. Entries come from ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable operators and corporations worldwide.

Shows from Free State Studios, formerly 6Productions, have won 13 Tellys since 2001.
