Kiel V. Bradley has been promoted to the rank of airman first class in the U.S. Air Force.
Bradley, an air transportation journeyman with three years of military service, is assigned to the 731st Aircraft Mobility Squadron, Osan Air Base, South Korea.
He is the son of Susan Parsons, Gilbert, Ariz., and Walter Bradley, Tonganoxie.
He is a 2003 graduate of Mesa High School, Ariz.

Army National Guard Pvt. Shannon L. Clarke has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Clarke’s foster parents are Dave and Irene Soderstrom, Lawrence.
In 2007, the private graduated from Lawrence Adult Learning Center.

Air Force Airman Matthew J. Watkins has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is a 2004 graduate of Free State High School and the son of Jimmy Watkins, Lawrence.

Army Sgt. Jake A. Walter has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.
The medal is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, who while serving in any capacity with the Army have distinguished themselves by meritorious service or achievement while serving in a combat or non-combat area.
In addition, Sgt. Walter has been awarded the Combat Action Badge in keeping with the spirit of the Warrior Ethos.
Walter, an AH-64 attack helicopter maintenance crew chief and team leader, is deployed with the 2nd Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Iraq. He has served in the military for more than three years.
He is a 2004 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School and the son of A.C. and Dawn Walter, Perry.
