Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical responded to a two-story residential fire at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday at 1141 N.Y. The cause of the fire was still being investigated at 11 p.m. Thursday. One person was in the house at the time the fire was discovered, but the occupant left safely. The American Red Cross assisted 10 people who were displaced because of the fire.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 24-year-old Lawrence man reported an orange 2007 Genuine scooter valued at $2,000 was stolen June 6 from the 900 block of West Seventh Street.

¢ A 62-year-old Lawrence man reported a John Deere 285 riding lawn mower valued at $2,500 was stolen from the 700 block of West Sixth Street.

¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence woman reported several items were stolen from a vehicle Monday in the 2400 block of West 25th Street. Items reported stolen include a Kenwood car stereo, white Apple iPod, and a 1,000 watt Kenwood amplifier. The total estimated loss is $1,710.

¢ A 24-year-old Iowa City, Iowa, man reported $1,100 in items were stolen Monday in the 800 block of Iowa Street. Items reported stolen include $500 cash, a base docking unit for an iPod and a Garmin GPS unit.

¢ Lightning strike, no fire, 5:46 a.m. Thursday, 4641 W. Sixth St.
