Lawrence agencies receive state grants

Attorney General Steve Six announced on Monday that Lawrence’s Ga Du Gi SafeCenter Inc. and Women’s Transitional Care Services Inc. received state grants totaling $141,000.

The Ga Du Gi SafeCenter, which provides 24-hour advocacy and support services for child and adult victims of sexual violence, was awarded $54,000. Women’s Transitional Care Services, which provides a safe shelter, peer counseling, advocacy and other services to survivors of domestic violence, received $87,500.

They were among several Lawrence crime victim assistance programs across Kansas that received a portion of $2.25 million in funding from the Victim Services Division.

“I commend all programs receiving grants this year for their hard work and commitment to Kansas crime victims,” Six said in a press release. “These programs make a difference in lives of Kansas crime victims.”

Other area programs that received funding were Douglas County CASA Inc., $8,000, and The Farm Inc., $40,750.
