KDOT delays I-70 repair project for exit bridge at U.S. 75 in Topeka

Drivers headed east and exiting Interstate 70 at U.S. Highway 75 in Topeka will need to wait a little longer to have their travels detoured by a bridge-repair project.

The project – to fix expansion joints on the exit-ramp bridge that takes traffic heading east on I-70 to go north on U.S. 75 – had been expected to start today, and then run through Monday.

But the Kansas Department of Transportation opted to delay the project until Aug. 1, citing uncertain weather conditions expected this weekend. The plan now calls for closing the ramp at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and then reopening the ramp to all traffic at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4.

The posted detour will direct traffic to the MacVicar Avenue exit, where drivers will be able to turn around and head back west on I-70 to the U.S. 75 exit, which will remain open.
