Moore staffers break House rules

? Staffers in Kansas Rep. Dennis Moore’s office used official e-mail accounts to send political information at least three times this year, in violation of House rules.

The Capitol Hill publication Roll Call says one staffer for the Democrat forwarded news about the campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Jim Slattery. The missive included the message, “(G)et out your checkbooks.”

The same staffer also sent an e-mail to staff sharing poll results that looked good for Slattery.

Moore spokeswoman Rebecca Black says the e-mails were a mistake. She said that staff have been told such content must be sent from personal e-mail accounts.

It is not clear whether there will be any penalty for the infractions.

Black says she’s not aware of any investigation.

Moore was criticized by Nick Jordan, who is seeking the Republican Party nomination to face Moore in November.

“Kansas voters will have a simple choice come November: if they prefer a Congressman whose focus is not on finding a comprehensive energy solution to bring down soaring gas prices or strengthening our economy, but rather, abusing the perks of office to bring his political allies to Washington, then by all means, they should vote for Dennis Moore,” Jordan said.
