State launches loans for farm diversification

The Kansas Department of Commerce offers two new loan programs to help agriculture producers who are adding to their traditional operations by developing agritourism operations or shifting to production of nontraditional crops or livestock.

Agritourism efforts include tourists visiting working farms, ranches, wineries or other operations for enjoyment, recreation, activities, education, shopping, dining or lodging. Nontraditional crops or livestock are those not tracked by Kansas Agriculture Statistics Service.
