Man receives 20 years for killing security guard

? A Wyandotte County judge has sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting a security guard who was loading an ATM.

Michael A. Baldwin, 47, pleaded guilty in December to second-degree murder in the 1996 shooting death of Lynn Beckwith, who was servicing a Kansas City, Kan., ATM.

District Court Judge John J. McNally on Friday also ordered Baldwin to pay $103,000 in restitution. He said Baldwin’s sentence would run concurrently with a prison term he was already serving for robbery.

A Johnson County jury convicted Baldwin in 1999 of aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated robbery, and he was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison. The earliest he could be released on that sentence is November.
