A 55-year-old De Soto man faces four charges in connection with the Jan. 11 discovery of 121 marijuana plants growing in a De Soto residence.

Robert Alan Neeland is charged with misdemeanor possession and felony charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and not having a drug tax stamp.

Neeland has been released from Johnson County Jail on $7,500 bond.

Acting on a tip, Johnson County Sheriff's deputies discovered 41 adult marijuana plants and 80 younger ones growing in the basement of the home, as well as detailed records, including irrigation and fertilization dates. Fourteen guns also were seized from the home.

~~not having a drug tax stamp~~

I am still trying to figure out how such a boneheaded law on an illegal item is allowed. It definitely isn't constitutional. Marijuana is an illegal substance. That means that there is no such thing as a legal sale of it. Without a legal sale, there is no legal taxes.

It's called taxation without .... ooh, twinkies!
