3 trains derail; 2 minor injuries reported
AUGUSTA ? Three freight trains derailed in an accident east of Augusta on Saturday, causing minor injuries to two crew members.
Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said the accident happened about 6 a.m., when a southbound train ran into the back of another train that had stopped on the track. Murphy said the accident caused cars to derail from a northbound train on an adjacent track.
A total of 39 cars derailed. No hazardous materials were involved.
