Man arrested in lottery ticket theft

? A 48-year-old Leavenworth man has been arrested in connection with the theft of lottery tickets after someone tried to cash in one of them.

Police say a burglar broke into a Leavenworth convenience store Christmas Eve, stealing $200 and four lottery tickets.

Authorities were called Friday night when a clerk at a different convenience store reported a woman was trying to cash in one of the missing tickets, which were listed as stolen in the lottery computer system.

The woman led officers to a man she said provided her with the ticket and he was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Detectives searching his house found both the remaining tickets and clothing matching what the burglar was wearing in a surveillance video.

The case has been turned over to prosecutors for possible charges.
