Broken pipe floods Kansas Cosmosphere

? A broken water pipe has flooded a third of the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson.

No artifacts are damaged, but some exhibits have been closed.

The pipe broke early Friday and dumped water as deep as 8 to 12 inches in some spots.

Cosmosphere President Chris Orwoll says the pipe broke at a Hutchinson Community College construction site that is connected to the Cosmosphere.

The Hutchinson News reported on its Web site that the water streamed down a service tunnel to a storage area in the space museum.

The museum’s German Gallery had nearly a foot of standing water.

Other parts had 1 to 3 inches.
