Baker gets high marks from military magazine

Military Advanced Education magazine named Baker University one of the country’s top military-friendly colleges and universities for 2008.

The magazine’s second annual report asked more than 2,000 schools to participate. An independent panel of judges from the military and education fields selected 60 institutions whose policies were the most favorable to men and women in uniform, according to the magazine’s Web site.

Baker has several policies geared toward military personnel, such as reduced tuition rates and application fees waived for all active duty service members and their spouses.

Students also receive college credit for all military training and specialized schools.

The honor also highlights the work done by the university’s School of Professional and Graduate Studies, which has a corporate education specialist travel to military bases to visit with prospective students and educate them about degree programs.
