Life sentence ordered in 15-year-old’s killing

? Topeka (ap) — A 25-year-old man has received a life sentence for killing a middle school girl in Shawnee County.

Christopher Dwayne Hall will not be eligible for parole for 50 years under the sentence imposed Friday in Shawnee County District Court.

He pleaded guilty in September to first-degree murder, indecent liberties with a child and desecration of a corpse in the killing of 15-year-old Nacole Winter. She had been missing two weeks when her body was found in December 2006. Her body had been burned from the waist down in an apparent effort to conceal evidence of her assailant’s identity.

Hall also has admitted his part in an attack on a couple several days after Winter’s body was found. The man and woman, who were struck with a hammer, survived.
