— A son of former U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum Baker, a Kansas Republican, has died.

The family says Richard Landon Kassebaum died Wednesday in Knoxville, Tenn., of a brain tumor. He was a filmmaker who worked on PBS documentaries. He was also a producer for Front Porch Films.

He was born in Wichita in 1960 and graduated from Maize High School. He got his bachelor's degree in radio and television from Kansas State University in 1983 and attended graduate film school at the University of Southern California.

He won a Student Academy Award in 1990 for his film about his grandfather, Alfred M. Landon, called "Alf Landon: My Talk With Papa."
