Roberts names leader for county organization

Sen. Pat Roberts has named Matt Hoy, a Lawrence attorney, as the Douglas County chairman for his re-election campaign.

Hoy works for the law firm Stevens and Brand and is also the 2008 treasurer for the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.

“I am excited by the support from those who share my vision for strong national security, greater tax relief, a sensible farm policy and a growing economy,” Roberts said in a statement. “I believe a strong, local grass-roots effort is key to success in Kansas, and our folks are top-notch.”

Roberts, a Republican, is seeking his third term in the Senate. He faces former Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Slattery in the Nov. 4 election.
