Woman dies in fire
Wichita ? An overnight house fire has taken the life of a woman in Wichita.
Battalion Fire Chief Mike Gonzalez said a neighbor flagged down a passing police officer about 1:20 a.m. Monday to report smoke coming from the home. Officers found the woman on a sofa in the front room of the house, carried her into the yard and began CPR.
But the woman – identified by fire officials as 56-year-old Cathy Snodgrass – died later at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital.
Firefighters suspect the fire was caused by a heating pad left in a chair.
Snodgrass is the third person to die this year in a Wichita fire.
