National Clown Week opens August
Aug. 1-7 was National Clown Week. On Aug. 2, 1971, President Richard Nixon signed into law a joint congressional resolution calling for such a designation of the first week in August. The event has since grown into International Clown Week.
The Lawrence Busker Fest, set for Aug. 22-24, will feature magicians, jugglers and acrobats including the Twin Jesters – Kent and Kevin Mercer, graduates of the Ringling Brothers Circus School.
Catch more clowns at the world-famous Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus at Kansas City’s Sprint Center, Sept. 10-14.
