Attorney to run for Jefferson County post

Caleb Stegall, a Perry attorney, has announced his intention to challenge Jefferson County Attorney Mike Hayes in the Republican Party primary in August.

Stegall, 36, is a lifelong resident of Jefferson and Douglas counties. He and his wife, Ann, have five sons.

Stegall graduated from the Kansas University School of Law in the top 1 percent of his class. He served on the Kansas Law Review and clerked for the chief judge of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

He opened his own law practice in 2005.
