The city of Lawrence needs volunteers to assist with the Earth Day celebration on April 19 in South Park. Volunteers will help with setup from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and breakdown after 4 p.m.

Immediate needs

¢ Douglas County Senior Services needs senior meal delivery volunteers to deliver lunch to homebound seniors. Five open routes need to be filled. Drivers must have a driver’s license and proof of insurance, be able to lift 30 pounds and be able to commit a day a week for a minimum of six months. Routes run from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday.

¢ Lawrence Walk MS needs volunteers to help with rest stops, registration, decorations, door prizes and T-shirt distribution for its walk Saturday. Volunteers should arrive at Liberty Hall by 8:15 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

¢ Mother to Mother of Douglas County is looking for volunteers to help with the annual Tribute to Mothers fundraiser to distribute order forms at their churches and organizations in April. Tribute to Mothers is a full-page advertisement that appears on Mother’s Day in the Lawrence Journal-World and allows individuals to list special women in their lives for $10 per name. ¢ Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care is looking for volunteers to assist with its 3D program, Dining, Dancing and Donating. Volunteers can set up from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or bus tables, help at the bar, set out desserts or clean up from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. April 19.

¢ The Roger Hill Volunteer Center will have its Spring Day of Caring on Saturday, May 3, to organize co-workers, friends and family into the act of volunteering.

Groups will be matched to a project that is just right for everyone to help our community’s residents in need and nonprofit organizations that serve them. Registration forms can be downloaded at rhvc.org.
