Wichita ? State Sen. Donald Betts says he plans to seek the Democratic nomination in Kansas’ 4th Congressional District.

While the Wichita senator’s formal announcement is scheduled for Tuesday at Friends University, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius revealed Betts’ plans during a state party meeting Friday.

“State Sen. Don Betts is about to take the leap,” she told a cheering crowd of about 300 during Demofest. “Meet the future 4th District congressman.”

Democratic state Rep. Oletha Faust-Goudeau said she would seek to replace Betts in the state Senate.
