Fire chief appointed to training commission

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical Chief Mark Bradford has been appointed to the Fire Service Training Commission.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius announced the appointment this week.

The commission provides oversight, guidance and funding recommendations for the state’s Fire and Rescue Training Institute at Kansas University. The commission meets at least quarterly and is composed of representatives from fire and emergency response agencies and organizations. Members are appointed by the governor to four-year terms.

Bradford also is a paramedic and a 30-year veteran of fire services.
